Continuing my interest in the frame as a theatrical space, I created Daddy (2012) and Grandmother (2012). These constructed dioramas are sized at 4’x5’x5” and mark the first of a growing cast of characters. Both figures are larger than life cardboard cut-outs, hand-colored and embellished with humble materials. Daddy sits within the landscape of the farm wearing a showman’s costume with a discarded prize ribbon, while Grandmother takes on the appearance of both an icon and a silver-screen star.
